Letter from Commodore Laurence Knox
7th December 2007

Dear Members

With our first birthday just around the corner, it is an enormous pleasure to write to members to say thank you for your interest, support and sometimes forbearance with this new but dynamic club.  Our rolls now contain some 160 of your names.  Over 50 have joined the Royal British Legion and it was with enormous pride that at the Remembrance Day service we saw the first outing of The Wivenhoe Ocean Racing Club tie.  Our Annual General Meeting will be on 29th December and there I hope you will take the opportunity to voice your opinions on your club.

Events throughout the past year have been regular and varied and I hope we have achieved a reasonable mix to appeal to all our members. Plans are already advanced for some major events in the coming year. We will, however, continue with our regular "call in" drinks parties.  This brings me, painfully, to point out that, as a social gathering, all our members and their guests have the right to expect a high degree of responsible, acceptable behaviour. I regret having to make this point and now having made it I believe we should move on and I look forward to welcoming all our members at future events.

As we approach the festive season I take this opportunity along with the WORC committee of wishing you all a merry Christmas and a happy 2008

With kindest regards

Laurence Knox
